Home Insurance in California
Covers the structure of your home, your belongings, and your liability as a homeowner. What it does not cover — flood, earth movement, wear and tear — is as important as what it does.
What is different in California
California raised its auto liability minimums in 2025, the first increase since 1967. On the property side, wildfire has restructured the market: admitted carriers have restricted new business in high-hazard territories, FAIR Plan counts have grown substantially, and a FAIR Plan policy plus a difference-in-conditions wrap is now a mainstream placement rather than a last resort. Earthquake is excluded from homeowners policies and written separately, typically through the CEA.
