Home Insurance in Texas
Covers the structure of your home, your belongings, and your liability as a homeowner. What it does not cover — flood, earth movement, wear and tear — is as important as what it does.
What is different in Texas
Texas carries essentially every major US catastrophe peril in one state: Gulf hurricane, Panhandle and North Texas hail, Hill Country wildfire, and — since February 2021 — statewide hard freeze. Coastal counties depend on TWIA for wind, and the standard Texas homeowners forms differ from the ISO forms used in most states, so a coverage comparison written for another state does not transfer cleanly.
